aha aha aha..... aha aha aha

its friday and on top of it I'd be eating in Saravana Bhavan in a few hrs from now :)
authentic south-indian food is something that is very rare to get in the US. there are some amazing punjabi and gujarathi restaurants, but I'm really surprised when it comes to south-indian food. all these udupi palaces, woodlands, and annapurnas are good for nothing. they don't even have the proper sambhar. any day I can cook better than these guys.

thankfully there is Saravana Bhavan (yes it is a branch of the real Madras Saravana Bhavan) in the bay area. everytime I go to the bay area, I never miss the Saravana Bhavan experience :) I hope they open one in the LA area soon :)

this only reminds me of the famous S.V.Ranga Rao song "Kalyana Samayal Saadam...........aha aha aha" :)

Hmmm..hope u had a happy hogging session!!:)
Just a coincidence that I wanted to share...I was thinking today morning, I would write a post on how I have lost my appetite and don't even feel like eating "home food" (I told my mom, I would take glucose drips everyday and she was annoyed..;)). Now, I guess I shouldn't crib coz I feel u guys out there, rarely eat our kind of stuff!

I have been to their old location, which was quite cramped and too small for the amount of people that flock in. Hopefully their new location is much bigger and better. Of course, there is no denying that they maintain the same taste. Enjoy!

And what was that comment from Narayanan...Have you been to Chicago? Calif. is 1000 times better, you can do what you want at your mercy not at the weather's mercy :-))

Forget about HSB. we don't even have a south Indian restuarant here. One should drive for 90 miles to the nearest udipi.

God, when I graduate, put me in some place, where are lotsa south indian restuarants

I guess you are right. I am not a South Indian. I am a bengali and miss Kolkata mainly because of its cuisine. Though I like South Indian Khana as well.

I went to HSB on Sat, only it was at Royapettah, Chennai and not in far away CA!!
I guess I should stop taking eating at HSB, HKB and HAB for granted and enjoy the masala dosas that I eat there every other day :)

Paran
I remember our trip to HSB. Good food.

Last afternoon a few of my relatives and my wife and I had gone to the Poconos for skiing. One of my relative's wife could not make it but managed to pack food and send for us. It was some of the softest dosas I have eaten , filled with all possible veggies. Id call it a vegetable oothappam in the guise of a dosa. Whatever it be, with the molagappodi, it was awesome. :)
