F L A M E S

was re-introduced to this game by the movie 'Manmathan'. I'm sure many would have known this game.
1. basically pair up your name with whoever you want to
2. cut all the common letters, between yours and hers
3. now add up all the remaining letters
4. Now lets say you have 7 in total. starting from 'F' in FLAMES count 7. you can wrap around. you should end up at the letter 'F'. strike it out. now start again at 'L' now and count 7.
5. Repeat this process until you are left with just one letter.

Here are the interpretations :)

F - Friend L- Love A - Affection M - Marriage E - Enemy S- Sister

we used to play this while at middle school :-). unfortunately for me, whoever I wished to be paired up with, it always ends up either in E or in S.

for serious lovers, play this game at your own risk :-)

So did you see "Manmadhan"?
I remember FLAMES well, all too well infact that a few friends of mine and I used to work out the FLAMES' score for all the girls and boys in our class and find out whom to tease with whom.:)
Ah! those days !!!

Our school was similar to Last Blogger's. We had an entire database of who was linked to whom as a friend, lover , sister, husband or enemy. That database included teachers as well.

How is Mandira Bedi? Man, what a transformation for her from the days of DDLJ. I thought she was cute in DDLJ and to hear that she has been bearing it all... that is a pleasant surprise...

Hi Saranyan,
What about the gals who wanted to wrap around you. Frankly you should have asked them to go ahead and act according to their mind, instead of trying to raise the FLAMES.

We too had a second meaning for S. :))

I think every class wd hav a database of the pairs.. some wd console themselves trying with their nicknames (whichever doesn't end up with E/S)..

yeah... those middle school days.. sigh!

Hari, it was in middleschool and FLAMES was like hororscope matching for us :) wouldn't proceed if it doesn't work well :)

looks like everyone has done this :) thanks for the comments guys.

The "S" in FLAMES is mouldable based on how prude the person doing the FLAMES is. I remember girls also doing it with their friends, and it was something like Friends,Love,Affection,Marriage,Enemy and Sister as you outlined. The guys, always more "knowledgeable" went for Sex for S and I even remember a nasty version of FLAMES that some folks made up.
