the last laugh
so today is the finale of the hit show "Everybody Loves Raymond". as rightly pointed out by everyone, even after 9 yrs, everybody still loves Raymond :) a nice family sitcom with clean humour, thats what ELR was. I'll miss him for sure :) but am sure there will be re-runs for the next 100 yrs :)
but I doubt if ELR can match Seinfeld, in terms of being a classic. Seinfeld was something. as my friend Manoj once mentioned - it has given so much to the pop culture, that none can ever match it.

ELR is good family comedy. Mostly clean, predictably good. Seinfeld is glorious in comparison. A show that redefined comedy and introduced so many new things to the culture. Networks are still struggling to create a Seinfeld, 7 years after the original and they have not even gotten close. The only reasonably good competitor is Curb your enthusiasm in HBO, which is by Larry David, one of the creators of Seinfeld.
I think there will be no re-runs. They will make you pay for a DVD box-set.
Can't beat Seinfeld I think.

i wonder why we dont have such shows in Tamil..all the shows are
oh-so filled with azhugai!
Last night show was refreshing. No extended 1 hr show. No dramatic moments that indicate some form of logical end..the family is all together and things go on as usual.
Kudos to all concerned on a job well done.

Prabha, adhu namma thalai ezhuthu, enna panna mudiyum :) SUN TV has morons on its board that decides what people should watch and enjoy. kodumai ennanna people are enjoying it as well.
Saranyan - Raymond has been running on TBS for an year now. (reruns of course)
sinefield was the only program i saw in TV long time back ippo lam adhukooda paka time illa :(
