mail in rebates

these are nothing but a pain in the neck. everytime you see something thats well below the general market price, that would have factored in a mail-in rebate. filling out those forms, complying with the terms and conditions and finally posting it before the deadline is a big hassle. and after all this there is absolutely no guarentee that we are gonna get our rebate checks.
there are companies out there to process these rebate requests and someone mentioned to me that they attract big clients by showing their rebate rejection %. what a business model.

today I posted one for $50 in rebate, lets see if I get it :)

ok guys, I'm taking off to chennai, don't know if I can blog regularly until I come back. till then.... have fun and keep bloging :)

and he gets 4 more yrs

alas, what a sad day for america. Bush has won the re-election, that too quite convincingly.
with all the southern states going Bush's way, it just means that the church is going to play a much more influential role in the government, in the yrs to come. women's rights, particularly on abortion, is going to be totally controlled by the church.
Bush's re-election could also pave way for more invasions on 'terrorist countries' in the next couple of yrs.

this also makes us wonder as to why Kerry lost, inspite of all the negatives against Bush. plainly put, the choice for the democratic ticket wasn't strong at all. if only Gore or Dean had contested this election, the results would have been different.

four more years
the whole world in tears ...

just a small peom attempt :)

voting machines in a developed country

as election day in US nears, we hear more and more about voting machine mal-functioning. this is really surprising and shocking too. we heard the same complaints 4 yrs back. hell, it even changed the future of the country, by making Bush the president in 2000. it will cost a few billion dollars in correcting/replacing these machines, and apparently that is what holding the change. but the iraq invasion had cost the country atleast 10 times more, so far.

another issue is voter intimidation, something similar to what we have in India. looks like all the claims of 'most-civilized and developed nation', by US is flatly false.

when a country like India, with a voting population of more than 300 million, can revolutionize the voting process in a decade, why can't US do it. maybe the politicians don't want to do it. after all its ruled by a person who didn't win the popular vote, nor had a strong mandate during his entire term.
