12 Angry Men

this 1957 classic is a mind blowing movie. Its about the delibrations of a jury, comprised of 12 men, on a murder trial. the whole movie takes place in a small room and it involves just the jurors, thats all. a very simple and yet a powerful movie.

its starts off with a 11-1 vote in favor of a conviction, with Henry Fonda being the lone questioner. and slowly he sows the seeds of doubts into his fellow jurors minds.
the emotional outbursts of the jurors, the un-avoidable personal feelings on the case, and their egos are so naturally portrayed in this movie. really a treat to watch such a smooth movie. it also has some catchy one liners.

Have heard about the movie a lot. Never got to see it. Now it goes in my Blockbuster queue.

On a similar vein, Id recommend "Mr.Smith goes to Washington", an excellent Frank Capra movie with James Stewart. A typical Capraesque story of David vs. Goliath, it still makes for compulsive viewing.

Ranga, I'll that on my queue :)

Jagan, yes the screenplay was really tight. I couldn't even take my eyes of the screen even for a second. Rear Window is brilliant movie too, after all its from the master of suspense -- Alfred Hitchcock.

Rear window is a good one. I have seen quite a few of Hitchcock mysteries and what blows your mind is the simple story, amazing screenplay and great acting. No special effects in the movie (Birds excluded), just after effects for the viewer. By the way, Birds is brilliant. Edge of the seat movie.

Ah, another "12 Angry Men" fan. I do hope you caught the 1957 version and not the amateurish TV remake.

Talking of Frank Capra, try out "Its a Wonderful Life" with James Stewart as well.

Hitchcock other recommendations: Dial M for Murder, Vertigo
